Five of us started from Old Town in Swindon at 9am.This added 15km each way to the route. We met up with the rest of the group at Foxhill car park by 10:30am.
It was a frosty day but we were prepared for the cold. We soon got going on the ride. It was a pretty basic ride along the ridgeway. This suited the weather well.
There were a lot of icy puddles on the track. Most of these were rideable, though Phil sank in one. Photo of sinking.
We arrived at the Court Hill centre by about 12:30pm. Here we stuffed our faces with cake, tea and bacon butties.
The afternoon was the same as the morning only in reverse. It was still very cold – the ice didn’t melt at all. Pete did the whole ride with a part time freewheel.
By 3pm we were back at the start where the sane people got into their cars leaving Gary, Phil and myself to ride back to Swindon.
We covered 72km in total.
