Purbecks Camping Weekend

Update 24/8/14

Unfortunately, this event has now been cancelled. We hope to run a similar event in the spring of 2015.

Purbeck-Day 2 Descent to Corfe (2)

After last year’s successful Purbecks weekend,  the club are returning for another weekend of riding from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 September. Tony Holmes will be leading a weekend of novice friendly riding in Dorset.  Less experienced riders are welcome

Camping is at Woodyhyde from Friday to Sunday. No booking is required – just turn up and pay.  See the location here.

For those not keen on camping there are plenty of B&B’s in the area as an alternative. There is also the renowned Square and Compass pub not far from the campsite at Worth Matravers (for evening refreshment), as well as numerous cafes in Corfe.

Hopefully we will be able to arrange a ride out on the Saturday with the Dorset Rough Riders and/or Nicky Harries.  Sunday will probably be a ride along the Purbeck Hills to Old Harry rocks and a stop at the beach cafe.  We will meet at the camp site at 10:00 each day for the rides.

The riding is mainly on grassy / stony tracks with a few steeper technical bits and obviously there is some climbing involved, but nothing too desperate.

There is a fine network of byways in the area though if you fancy doing your own thing.
