MB Swindon May News
Club Events Non-members are very welcome to come along to an event or two before deciding to join the club, “try before you buy” as it were. Our Friday night rides (every Friday, 7:30pm) at the trail continue into spring. We've also got 6 sets of lights that we are able to lend to anyone who wants to try night riding at the trail before purchasing their own lights. These must be booked in advance, on a first come, first served basis. You can do so by emailing phil@mbswindon.co.uk
Don't forget that any events marked with Trail Building We've two trail building evenings planned for May. These will involve light maintenance around various bits of the trail. If you've got a petrol strimmer then we'd be very grateful if you came along to lend a hand! We've also got two full days planned for the 14th and 15th of May. Feel free to pop along and get stuck in, even if you can only spare an hour or so. These days are subject to weather conditions. Please double check the events page before heading down.
As always, you'll find details of all the above events and many more on our events page. On Sunday 8th May Hargroves Cycles in conjunction with MB Swindon are holding a demo day at the Croft Trail. There will be a great selection of the latest bikes to test ride over challenging terrain rather than just round a car park. Also on-site will be members of the MB Swindon team should you wish to ask questions about the Croft Trail, to have a guided tour or just talk bikes. As a bonus, we'll have a BBQ going for most of the day and members of Highworth Camera Club will be there taking pictures around the trail. Should be a top day out, even if you're not really looking to buy a new bike! The event will run from 10am – 4pm. For full details see the Hargroves Cycles website. Red Planet Demo Days Our Martian friends at Red Planet are holding a series of demo days for some of their brands. They have Salsa and Surly on May 14th, Santa Cruz on May 21st and Orange on June 9th. See their website for more details MTB Training Courses MB Swindon are once again running a series of training courses this summer and with two different course programmes – Introduction to Mountain Biking and Trail Riding Skills – we can help you get more out of your mountain bike whether you’re a total beginner or a regular rider looking to improve. Please see our training page for further details and to book your place on one of our courses. Spaces are filling up fast, so if you're thinking about signing up (or signing someone else up) then get on with it! Ladies-Only Ride After the success of our previous ladies-only day, Jodie (MB Swindon’s Women’s Officer) is running another Ladies Only ride (click here for the last ride report) at Cwm Carn in South Wales on the 21st May. Croft Trail Open Day Our recent open day was a massive success. Huge thanks to all the club staff and members who came along and made it a great day. We'll be making this an annual event. Club member Lee Wright made this video of a complete lap of the trail at our demo day. Cheers Lee! And finally… The club is continuing to grow beyond our expectations – we've now got 135 members. Not bad for a 14 month-old club eh?!
