Full newsletter coming later in the week. Quick update for now.
Curry Night
Our fund raising curry night is on Monday 11th October. This is at the Bombay Lounge in Peatmoor and all profits from the restaurant on the night will go to MBSwindon Club and Croft Trail.
We’ve got a raffle of MTB related items that will be drawn on the night. Tickets will be on sale at the Friday night ride (and at the Check Inn afterwards), on the Ashton Court ride on Sunday and on the night itself.
You can also buy raffle tickets online.
There’s going to be a competition to name some of the sections of the Croft Trail too.
Lights
We’re soon going to have a few sets of Magicshine lights for trial use on our night rides (see events for upcoming rides). This is thanks to the CTC who are working to promote cycling in the Swindon area. The lights will be intended primarily for new riders or those who wish to have a go before committing to buying some of their own.
Events
We’ve recently overhauled the events listing on the website so that event types and novice friendly rides are more clear. We’ve packed the next three months with events: night rides, ridgeway rides, trail centres and a lot of trail build days. We’re going to have a lot more trail surfaced by Christmas and we’ll be working on rebuilding the triangle section over the winter. Trail development plans from August.
Other things under discussion include an MBSwindon organised charity cycle ride event near Easter, more camping trips (Lake District and Wales) and another series of training courses. We’ve got two more instructors being trained very soon.
Under 18s
We’ve had a lot of discussions about how we can offer something to under 18s. We’re going to write an article laying out what we can offer at the moment, what we would like to do and the various hurdles that have to be overcome in order to make that happen.
Website
We’ve started work on a trail building information section.
We’ve got a series of articles waiting to be written too. As always, we’re busy. If you have any suggestions or want to get more involved then just make contact via email, in person at an event or on the forum.
