Simon Oxlade is leading this week’s midweek ride, and says, “It will be at a bit of a plodding, steady pace and so ideal for Newbies.”
Meet at Coate water by the cafe at 7:30. We’ll then heading out over the Curly Whirly bridge to Chisledon and on to Draycott Foliat before climbing Swire’s (Smeathe’s) Ridge, going over Barbury Castle and then down the Ridgeway track, across the fields to Hodson, through the dip and back to Coate.
27km/17mi mixture of tarmac, gravel trails and some grass and with 210m of climbing at no more than a 5.0% grade (according to Bike Route Toaster anyway).
It should take a couple of hours if the pace is steady, so bring lights! (Especially as the run in will be on roads.)
