There’s lots to talk about this month with plenty of bike-related activities occurring in the near future.
Santa Cruz Demo Evening
See here for more details.
Free Training
The free mountain bike training courses have proved extremely popular with many dates being fully booked up. However, we’ve still got some places on the Ladies Only day (4th July) and 22nd August – see here for more information. We’re also hoping that some more dates will be added soon.
MB Swindon Events in May
Lots happening throughout May and into June, both locally and further afield. We have 5 building days planned at Croft trail, as well as a trip to Afan in South Wales and a ride closer to home (this isn’t on the events list yet, but will be on 22nd or 23rd of May). We have also started up our evening/night rides at the trail, the last one saw 10 riders complete 2 laps without lights. All events are listed here.
Croft Trail
Work is still progressing on the new red section near the start and we hope to have this finished ASAP. A lot of people have been asking about what happened the wood work. Well, it’s been recycled for the new section. This will be open as soon as it’s finished, which should be sometime in May. Many hands really do make light work, so if you’d like to get involved and speed things up – as well as having some input into what is happening – then please feel free to pop along to one of our build days.
Red Planet Demo Day
Once again the Red Planet Bikes big demo day is happening in May, and everyone is invited. Bikes from Orange, Santa Cruz, Merlin, Intense, Sanderson, Pace, and Salsa. Prebooking is recommended. The event is taking place in the main car park at Barbury Castle on Sunday May16th between 10:30am and 3:30pm. More info at Red Planet Website.
Swindon Bike Week
Swindon Bike Week (19-27th June) culminates in a Cycle Festival at Lydiard Park from 10am – 4pm on Sunday 27th June:
“A large festival of cycling with stalls and demos dedicated to proving that cycling is for everyone, no matter what your age, size, ability or mind-set is. We will demonstrate every aspect of cycling including; road cycling, cyclo-cross, mountain biking, BMX, and will also include specially adapted bikes and fun bikes. There will be plenty of games, kids’ activities and a lead ride around the park.”
Obviously mbswindon will be there with info on the club and the Croft MTB trail so come say hello. Members, including those who join on the day, drop by and claim your free Haribo!
