Previous ride report from the Forest of Dean in September 2010 (novice friendly).
This event was organised by DiRT CC club (DiRT CC Website, Facebook group). They’re a group of mountain bikers from Gloucestershire.
They’ve got a similar attitude to MBSwindon; keen to enjoy riding rather than a bunch of bike bores or fitness nuts.
We did a few runs down the main Corkscrew downhill near the Pedalabikeaway trail centre. There is an uplift available (Flyupdownhill) but we didn’t use that; we rode up the hill. The route was wet and slippery but still a lot of fun. Video from 2008 showing typical bits of the downhill.
We then did a bit of FODCA trail. This is having some work done to it by Rowan Sorrell (Back on track trail builders). We spotted a few new large berms and piles of rock.
After that we followed the 10 mile cross country race route. This is used in the annual RFDCC enduro.
We had some fun jumping out of one of the bomb holes.
By 2pm we were back at the cafe stuffing our faces.
In the late afternoon I did a full lap of the 10 mile route with a friend and then finished off with the last bit of the FODCA trail.
Bing map of route including 10 mile enduro route.
Great ride report Tom. Had a great day. Hope to come and enjoy the croft trail with the rest of DiRT CC in the new year. Bez
