Following on from our progress on Saturday we were planning on filling in a load of trail on the east side of the pitch on this day. Phil and myself arrived at 8:30am in order to collect the power barrow from Jez and to get a head start on the east side. At 10am prompt then Kristian and Gary Smart arrived followed shortly by Julian Rodger. We shifted chippings using the power barrow plus two hand barrows. Phil was having trouble keeping up with the raking out. By 2:30pm Kristian, Gary and Jason were done for the day, leaving Phil and myself to catch up with the raking. We’d surfaced another 100m of trail. Just as enthusiasm was taking a bit of dip then Kat, Pete and Nigel arrived. Kat did a load of litter picking, something that we’ve been working on ever since we started on the trail. The rest of us finished off compacting and then dusted all 200m of new trail. We built up the first berm on the east side with bricks and a big pile od mud. Things are looking really good now – we’ve got 100m of trail waiting to be filled in with limestone chippings and then the whole trail will be surfaced. This will be a major milestone. It would be great to have a large turnout for this historic day on the 10th December 2011. |
